SHIROYAMA HOTEL kagoshima is a traditional and local 5-star hotel established 60 years ago and offers the top quality of service. To make your stay in Kagoshima special, the hotel produced tour courses that you can book.
This plan showcases the deep local charms and you will have a special opportunity to meet the local craftsmen that you won’t meet on a normal tour. First, you will visit a small traditional house that is a factory of the “WASHI” Japanese craft paper. You will learn how to make it from the craftsman and create your one-of-a-kind pieces of paper.
Then, you will visit the next destination to see the soba noodle-making performance following the soba noodle lunch. They will perform traditional drams after lunch, which is a special welcoming performance for your group.
The afternoon program is visiting Japanese Whisky and Shochu distillery in the area. Shochu is the local spirit loved by the Kagoshima people. You will learn how to produce them and you may learn how to enjoy them at the dinner table.
After visiting the distillery, you will head to the renovated ex-school building to have dinner. SHIROYAMA HOTEL Kagoshima sets up the special dinner table for your group. 
(It is an interesting and maybe a bit sad fact, but due to the depopulation in Japan, many schools have been forced to close or merge with other schools. However, the people living in the area are trying to reuse the space for the special occasion.)

11:30  Soba master's fresh soba noodle making at the Japanese folk house cafe, Lunch with traditional Taiko Performance
14:30  Local distilled spirit learning at Whisky and Shochu Distillery 
17:30  Satsuma Gastronomy Table at renovated ex-school building, produced by the executive chef of SHIROYAMA Hotel kagoshima
20:00  The end of the tour
