◉ Tairyo Bata（大漁旗） ◉
Tairyo Bata（大漁旗）, which translates into “Big Catch Flag” is a traditional Japanese fisherman’s flag flown by boats to indicate a successful day of fishing i.e. a large catch of fish. Intricate design, bright and colorful with motifs from the ocean, these flags are also used these days as a decorative flag for various festivals and events. In coastal communities such as Ichikikushikino city (a well known fisherman’s city) these flags continue to be used by fishing boats on a BIG day.
